Sixty-four years later, Oskar takes sick and is diagnosed with inoperable cancer. Realizing that he will no longer be able to provide for Eli, he decides that this is the time to make his final exit. He offers to let Eli drink his blood and then adds: "But first, I'd like one last long, open-mouthed kiss."

Eli takes Oskar tenderly in her arms. Her kiss lasts ten minutes and makes endorphins course all through his body. Finally she says, "Forgive me, Oskar," sinks her fangs into his neck and begins drinking his blood. He feels the pain caused by her bite being dissolved quickly by the endorphins, and from then on he obtains immense pleasure from her closeness until he passes out.

If you are satisfied with the fate to which you have consigned Oskar, turn to page 43.

If you want to try a different sequence of choices, either turn to page 2 to start at the beginning or return to the page that contains the decision you want to change.

Congratulations! You have found the sequence of choices that leads to the Easter egg. In case you haven't noticed, the trick is to turn systematically to the page with the higher number, except that it doesn't matter whether you turn to page 26 or page 27. If you want to read an account of all the sequences of choices and their consequences, turn to page 42.
