The next night, Oskar is awakened by a tapping on his window. It's Eli, standing on the window ledge. "Will you let me in?" Once again, he does.
He recounts the previous night's misadventure and then concludes, "I'm so sorry I failed you, Eli. I'll do better when I get out of juvy in a couple of years. I'll be stronger - and wiser. I know you'll want a replacement for me until then, but please visit me as often as you can. I'll be so sad if I never get to see you all that time!"
"Don't worry, Oskar, you won't have to go through that," says Eli. "I have another big favour to ask of you."
