Oskar weighs his options. If he fights back, he will probably be killed; otherwise at worst he will lose an eye. Deciding to accept the lesser evil, he meekly wades over to Jimmy. Jimmy grabs Oskar by the hair, advises him to take a deep breath, counts down the seconds from five to zero and then forces Oskar's head under the water. After about thirty seconds, the other three boys begin to get nervous. Andreas sits down by the side of the pool some distance away and starts to cry. Conny calls to Jimmy and Martin says, "Conny, let's get out of here!" but Jimmy tells them both to shut up. Oskar's last thought before he passes out is that when the three minutes have expired, Jimmy will pull him out of the pool, revive him and then poke out one of his eyes. Even with only one eye, life will still be worth living.
When the teacher returns, he finds Oskar's body at the bottom of the pool.
If you are satisfied with the fate to which you have consigned Oskar, turn to page 43.
If you want to try a different sequence of choices, either turn to page 2 to start at the beginning or return to the page that contains the decision you want to change.
