Biography
Ghislain Levesque has completed his scientific (B. Sc.) and
administrative (M.B.A.) at Laval University and obtained his Ph. D.
from Pantheon-Assas (Paris II) in Management.
He joined UQAM's Computer Science Department in 1984
as Professor in Computer Sciences for Business. His academic and research
interests in software engineering concentrate on the planning and
pre-development of systems activities, on knowledge model building and on
process management. He is currently in charge of the Laboratoire
interuniversitaire de Collectique appliquée (LICA) (Inter-campus Laboratory
of Applied Groupware) whose work mainly focuses on the study and
experimentation of documentation support groupware for training
and management activities. He is also an associate researcher at the
Laboratoire de Recherche en Gestion des Logiciels (LRGL)
(Software Management Research Laboratory).
From 1990 to 1995, Ghislain Lévesque was head of GIRICO, an
inter-campus group doing research in cognitive computer sciences
of organizations. He has taken up the duties of editor for the ICO
Québec magazine and that of President-General Manager which lead
him to act as mediator for the development of large university-business
research projects (SAFARI and HYPERGUIDE in particular). He is also
responsible for an electronic network of researchers in computer technology
and cognitive sciences (RESEAUTISC) affiliated to the University of Quebec.
He is a member of the ACFAS, the ACM, the AAAI and the IEEE.
